What is Data Recovery?
“Data
Recovery is the process of restoring data, recovering databases and
repairing files from failed hard drives, multiple hard drive failures in a RAID
array, and offline or degraded RAID arrays due to mechanical failures or
disasters such as fire, flood, lightning or hurricanes.”
What is
Backup?
Backup refers to the copying of date, on-site or in a remote
location, so that the additional copies may be restored after a data loss event.
Backup are useful primarily for two purposes: first to restore a computer to
operational status following a disaster, and second to restore small numbers of
files after they have been accidentally deleted or corrupted. Backups differ
from archives in the sense that archives are the primary copy of data and
backups are a secondary copy of data.
